Just had a situation much like this one occure in our town.Officer attemtps to take a suspect high on pcp into custody for a felony warrant and the fight is on. Two taser shots and alot of mace later suspect still not going down,officer is still screaming for help on the radio and backup 10 min out.This is happening in a busy gas station parkinglot with our County Prosecuting Attorney and several others just standing there watching it happen.Officer held on till backup arrived and was released f...

Maybe the person holding the camera should have put it down and ran over and help. I didn't hear her say anything about calling for help until the end of the video.

i am a cicilian and i have to say that i am just shocked and i cant believe the way poeple walked by while all this was going on and didnt do anything.i know the police job is to serve and protect but sometimes, they could use our help too. the fact that it took him to ask for help in order for anyone to step up is disturbing. but the officer is remarkable and that guy should've got a harder sentence.

This is a perfect example of why all officers should learn MMA and integrate it to trainning.

Not working in Sgt COLOMBO's area, in fact working in an area with EXCELLENT civillian support, I do NOT see this as an example of civillians not WANTING to help, but more being AFRAID of getting involved, or hurt. The woman videotaping this event COULD have called earlier, but at least she recorded what was obviously a knock-down, dirty fight that the Sgt came out on top of, eventually. Good fight, there, Sarge!

I live and Work in MA and I know first hand the animosity that the people have towards the police and it is scary. The liberalism in this state borders on insanity. I'll bet that most of the on lookers thought that the Sgt was getting what he deserved. GREAT JOB SGT!

This is just more proof of the difference in mentality between the Sheep and the Sheepdogs. Sheep scared stiff watching a Sheepdog taking on a wolf... There wasn't another Sheepdog in sight for this poor Sgt. Good job in keeping him at bay and winning at all costs. That was a tough fight to watch.

even if i were an average jane, i would have been on the concrete fighting my butt off to help that officer. I hope that my husband fights as hard with NO F***ing help from citizens or the "lady" holding the camera when he is in that situation.If one of my guys were in a fight for their life I only hope one of the citizens that my husband and my fellow officers risk their life to protect would have cowboyed up!! God Bless Sergeant Columbo. That's how you fight. He never gave up and he stayed focused on getting that individual under control. No thanks to the cowards looking on!!!

I'd like to slap this woman repeatedly. SHE WAITS TILL HE HAS HELP TO CALL 911???? LADY! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? And I noticed the first guy in to help looks about 70 years old. You gotta know those putzes were standing watching out of camera range until the officer got the guy under control. Hey, here's an idea. How about next time one of THOSE folks are getting attacked or assaulted or robbed that we stand back and wait a bit, watch, and perhaps record it so we can send it into...

This video is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of where we are today-
1. Woman see's a cop struggling in a 1-on-1 fight with another grown man. What to do? ... Get out a video camera once you realize this fight will last long enough for you to take it out and start rolling film. WHAT?! Not 'call for help, scream, use a phone you also have on you'? Naw, film it! Oh wait, cop might get his *** kick, and then he sees me filming this. I might get my *** kicked too. hmmm, better call for more police.

I cannot believe all those people just watched Sgt. Columbo struggling with that guy. And then that lady takes her sweet time calling 911. This is a picture perfect example of a dedicated Officers will to survive!!! Good Job Columbo. Stay safe out there brothers!!

I agree..can't beleive she did not call 911 sooner. Ofc. did a great job with defending himself though.

That is def. time to make taser part of duty gear, it works great for us. Its amazing how people just stand and look. Nice job on the lady just taping along and not think about calling 911 till the maggot is in custody.......

Good for you Columbo - you stayed plugged in, did different things until something worked, and you won. Guys like this need the computer (head) shut down, whether w/fists, elbows, knees, or .... final option. Would love to know what now, in retrospect you would have done differently, for me to pass on to the other deputies here.

Are you kidding me??? Grown men walking by and watching. No wonder sheep need a shepherd. Nice restraint on the part of the Sgt., but if Joe Dirtbag is grabbing my gun or my package, he's getting some lead.

2 years in prison? Shoulda recieved life by bullet on scene....and good job on waiting until the fight was over to call 911 lady ...
