I am a Police Officer and I recently saw this video. I thought it looked easy so I tried it out for myself. I figured it out in 10 to 15 minutes. Then I checked to see if I could be cuffed behind my back and get out. Well I could, I got my hands in front of me and escaped. It also didn't matter which way the cuffs were on. Just remember handcuffs are only temporary. A side note is I couldn't get out of ASP cuffs, but they also have there own flaws.

The key holes facing up and the cuffs double locked will alleviate this problem. This way the pin can't be knocked out because it's up against the inmate's back rather than away from him. Key holes up so the internal ratchets can't be accessed by the inmate. (Handcuffing 101).

This does need to be restricted to LEO's. Double locking for the win....

double lock every time

I agree with the two others; this should be restricted to police LEOs only. Remember to double lock your prisoners.

The video should be edited to blur the inmate's face. The officer agreed it would not be shown and the inmate can be identified.

+1 Motorplow
I think it's important that anyone who carries cuffs, practice these techniques as well. You can never be too prepared, police officers are human, one mistake could end them up in those cuffs.

Unfortunatly for us, inmates teach each other these tricks and videos of this are already available on youtube and such sites. Guess all we can do is hope for better equipment and we need to keep on top of this!

It would also make it more difficult if his hands were behind his back palms outward, thumbs down.

little trick I use to do with escape risk prisoners or long transports was to wrap the handcuffs in ducktape. Makes it a pain in the *** for little stunts like this.

I would have to agree with motorplow. That is crazy though.

Thinking this video should be restricted to law enforcement only.
