Around 11:36 a.m. CDT, West Memphis police officer Bill Evans initiated a traffic stop on a white Dodge Caravan minivan that was travelling on Interstate 40 eastbound towards Airport Road.[2] According to a spokesperson for the Arkansas State Police, Officer Evans was "running drug interdiction", and the vehicle had license plates from Ohio. Sergeant Brandon Paudert provided backup for Evans. Upon Paudert's arrival at the scene, Evans attempted to frisk Jerry Kane. Suddenly, Kane turned and attacked Evans in a scuffle down an embankment into a ditch. At that moment Joe Kane emerged from the passenger door of the van and opened fire with an AK-47. Paudert ran to the rear of Evan's police cruiser and returned fire with three shots from his .40 caliber handgun through the windows and taillight of Evan's cruiser, in an attempt to hit Kane firing from the other side. BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Boynton Beach Police released video of a June 12 shootout between two of their officers and a bank robbery suspect. Police spotted Calvin Wallace's red Lincoln Town Car after a notice was put out. Wallace, 52, crashed and then it appears he opened fire on officers Chris Munro and Eric Reynolds. Reynolds was shot in the foot and Wallace later died.

From the YouTube description: "The suspect, Kevin Collier, shot his 1-year old daughter, his mother-in-law and then police showed up (me too). Upon arriving, officers were met with gunfire from the suspect who had a rifle of some sort. Officer Jared Slocum was struck in the left temple, where it exited the rear of his skull. He was NOT shot in the neck, as it appears. The suspect then set the house on fire, before shooting himself." Apparently Officer Slocum decided to medically retire from El Cajon Police Department, move, and go back to college. The officer with him was a rookie still being trained.
