Force where force is due...But letting a perp get the better of your emotions...is ignorant...fellow Officers, if around, could have saved this guys job by stopping him.

Its excessive!!!! Its unnecessary force. Now if he had done something to injure and officer or tear up property..then I would say the force was necessary..but not this one. Not from what i seen and heard.

Once again the comments reflect the attitude that the use of violence is 'ok' with police. What is wrong with you guys? Maybe you should take a leaf out of the British Police book. They dont carry guns at all except for special op's, and they are the most successful in the world. To condone the prolonged and deliberate use of violence against a suspect or anyone is a criminal act, regardless of provocation, which is quite different from reacting in the 'heat' of the moment. The officer should be not only fired but charged, as any other citizen would be.

You have to maintain your cool guys, no offender is worth losing your job and being sued. Have to realize we are in a bleeding heart society now. Realy have to stay on yoru toes. You are better off getting hurt than hurting them unfortuantely we are just 9 digit social numbers to the state. So if you do act out do it smart. Stay safe and level headed, heart goes to the officer for a momentarily poor decision.

I have been bitten, kicked, stabbed, peed on, spit on, poo thrown at me. You name it. You are expected to maintain composure and not use excessive force. The officer was wrong i know how he feels but he shouldnt have lost his cool and i got no respect for that police chief. Even stated the officer had spent the last 5 years there with a clean record just his one time..well wtf caused the one time then? might want to ask that before you try to look good for the public.
