I agree about siren on, but this happens way to often. Drivers panic and dont react the way they should. They either dynamite the brakes, pull to the left, and all kinds of other crazy reactions. At SGWP45- wouldn't "preventable" mean the officer could have prevented it? I think his department considered the collision :unprevntable and thats why the 65 yr old driver was considered at fault.

Probably should have had the siren on continuously... My agency would have held the officer at fault. Glad no one was seriously injured.

"The resident of the home was not injured and was in a different room of the house, but the officer and the two occupants of the other car involved in the crash did receive non-life threatening injuries." -- Oregonian............. "The outcome of the investigation identified the crash as preventable. Investigators' remarks indicated that the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash had enough time to yield and move out of the way from the approaching patrol vehicle from behind. Video from inside the patrol vehicle shows the motorist turning left and directly in front of the officer who is attempting to go around. The motorist, 65-year-old Clyde Rizzutto of Tigard was cited for "Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle." (ORS 811.145)" - Tigard PD
