@trebor- I think you misunderstood. It is slang to say someone went 10-8 if they flip out or got very angry, as in "after that guy hit me I went 10-8 on him", or "I rolled up and that dude was going 10-8 on his old lady so I tased him" I believe that SASOJPT was trying to say that his Sheriff would be very upset and probably chew his butt for it, but that it would be worth the writeup for the publicity. We use 10 codes in my agency and 10-8 still means in service, but it is also a slang term for "going off" or giving someone a butt chewing or beating.

@SASOJPT, in North Carolina the 10-8 code means "IN SERVICE"! when you check on duty you are 10-8....10-41 (starting tour of duty) and at the end of your shift you are 10-7 (out of service) 10-42 (ending tour of duty) amazing how the 10 code's are different from state to state and even town to town! they SHOULD BE STANDARD ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO AVOID CONFUSION!
